Car cranks but will not start after sitting for twelve months. I sprayed starting fluid into the air filter and it started for thirty seconds then cut off and would not start. I also opened the fuel filter bolt when I started but did not see any fuel come out. Is it the fuel pump and where is it located?
The car was running great before it sat for months. Has a new battery.

Was the engine cranking when you saw no fuel coming from the fuel line when it was unhooked?

The fuel pump should be in the tank before I would suspect a bad fuel pump you have to make sure you have power and ground to the pump.

You need to listen for the main relay clicks. You should hear a click from under the dash when the key is turned on and another click about two seconds later. If you do not hear the clicks you should look into replacing the main fuel relay.

Hi LKinder,

Was any repairs done prior to this occurring?
What is the fuel pressure at the fuel rails?
Did you try using starter fluids?

Hi C Buddy,

Engine will not start could be due to lack of ignition sparks, fuel pressure or supply and mechanical problems.

Check out this link for procedures on testing.

https://www.2carpros.com/kpages/first_things.htm

The clutch staying on the floor should be due to hydraulic system failure.

Check the fluid level in clutch master cylinder reservoir. If level is good, you could have a bad master cylinder. You would need to lift the pedal and pump it a few times to get any pressure.

If it is turning over, then your battery sounds good. Check to see if there is spark and fuel to the engine?
