Engine cranks but does not start

When turning the ignition, the car sounds like it wants to start but will not start. Changed alternator, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, and spark plugs. Cannot think of what it could be. Please help…

Hi Cindy,

When you have a crank with no start condition like this, in most cases it is caused either by loss of fuel or ignition spark to the plugs.

I realize you replaced spark plugs and the fuel pump, but if they aren't getting power, it won't make a difference.

Here is what I want you to try: See if it starts for a couple of seconds using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is fuel related. If there is no change, I need you to check ignition spark. Here is a link that explains how that is done:
