I went to the store last night with no problems. When I came out to leave my car would not start but the battery light, radio and where you see change gears stayed lit and wouldn't go off at all. So, my key won't turn to the off position so I'm assuming even though it seems like it isn't being able to turn far enough to on. Where my key goes looks like it is crooked now which didn't before.

Hi,

There is a key lock cylinder (where the key goes) and an ignition switch. I have to ask if this is a dash-mounted key/ignition switch. Based on your description, it sounds like the lock cylinder has separated from the actual switch causing it to bind,

If you look below, I included the directions for replacing the lock cylinder. I'm only providing it so if needed, you can separate the two components and try reconnecting then to see if it then works properly.

Since you are unable to turn the ignition off, it will cause the battery to drain. You may want to consider disconnecting the negative battery terminal. It will cause you to lose your pre-sets on the radio and clock, but the battery won't drain that way.

Let me know as much as you can and if this helps. Also, if the lock cylinder needs replaced, the system will need to be reprogrammed to accept the new key.

Take care,

Joe
