I have a 1994 cadilac concours that have been sitting for about a year. Before sitting the car down the car ran out of gas and haven't been crank snice. I just recently tried cranking the car after put 4 gallons of gas in it. It will turn over good but will not start.
So I prime it by shooting gas under the hood when do so the car will start but only runs off the gas that I primed it with then it shut off. So I not sure of whats going on do the fuel pump need to be reset if so how is that done. Thanks for your help.

thank you for help. I looked under the hood and under the fuse box for the fuel pump relay I saw 4 black boxes what you where I guess talking about but not sure which one I need to replace. I could find the s what you where describing all the black boxes have the same thing on them so it's really confusing. Help please.

Hello bmundie29

By spraying gas in the throttle and make the engine start then died demonstrate it has compression and spark and the problem is fuel related, you did a good diagnosis for no start condition.
There is a fuel relay in the relay center, make sure the black wire from the relay is grounded, then replace the relay.Jack the car up and check the connector at the fuel pump, making sure it is tight.
Attempt to start and have an helper to listen to the fuel pump through the filler neck,if there is no buzzing sound,I'll suspect the fuel pump.there is no fuel shut off switch to be reset.. Debris in the fuel tank when empty could have cause high resistance in the fuel pump causing it to stop working.Ask your mechanic to clean the tank when installing a new pump.

Hello bmundie29

I understand, all relays look same( black boxes) but here is a simple way to test it.switch places with them (move the right one to the middle, the middle one to the left and the left one to the right )then start the car.
check also fuel pump fuse,in the fuse block.(sending the diagram)
Check the connector at the fuel pump underneath.
one thing is for sure"the engine is not getting fuel base on your diagnosis by spraying gas under the hood"
if you have basic tools and think you can replace the fuel pump , I'll guide you.
