My windshield wipers are moving slow or at times not working at all. Also the windshield washer fluid is not working at all. Yesterday I noticed that my sunroof was leaking. The water was coming in then all the way down the driver side door and onto the floor board. It was running in under the appolstry and down the driver side door. I don't know if these two are connected or if its just a bad motor or switch. I don't want to purchase a new motor if that is not the problem. Any advice on what I can do. There is no water in the fuse box it looks like it just ran down the frame. I didn't even notice it until it got so soaked it was dripping from above. Then when I touched the carpet on the roof it came pouring out like an old tent in the rain. Thanks in advance for your help.

As far as the wipers, check to see if you are getting 12 volts to the wiper motor. IF you are, you either have a bad ground or a bad motor. As far as the leak, you need to have it checked. Chances are the weather stripping is bad. Usually, that type of problem is checked and repaired by a body shop.

My Rendezvoux had the same problem with the wipers. They were moving slower and slower each day. I was ready to change the motor when I found it was working fine when I disconnected the gear to the wipers. The problem was they were getting seized up at the joints. And there is a few of them. I sprayed them with penetrating oil and cycled the wipers by hand and you could feel them loosening up. It is now over 6 months and they are working fine. I occasionally still spray the joints with oil so it does not happen again.

By joint, are you refering to where the wiper arms mount to the vehicle?

That is part of it but there is also a bunch of linkages joined by ball joints going to the wiper motor.

I believe you are refering to the linkage under the cowl. I just wanted to hear what you did thinking it may help another person with the same problem in the future.

Thanks,
Joe
