My car started yesterday and won't start today. How can I tell if I need to replace the fuel pump?

there is a little valve at the fuel pressure regulator on top of the motor on your fuel rails,its covered by what looks like a valve on a tire but a lil bigger stick a nail in there an push on the valve if gas shoots out you are gettin gas.good luck
