1994 Buick Park Avenue fuel pump failure

On 10/24/07 I had the fuel filter replaced on my old Buick. Five weeks later on 11/28/07 the fuel pump failed. Could the fuel filter replacement have caused the fuel pump failure?

no it will not, but running with a plugged filter sure will, also running it low on fuel or running out of fuel
