1986 Buick Park Avenue not sure what I did help

I turned the crankshaft by hand u know with a socket and breaker bar to move the vanes on the back of the vibraiton damper so I could just take the crankshaft sensor and put new back in did thes so would have to take the damper cover off check the vanes arnt hiting the senson just turns over now no start so I moved the crank to wher the #1piston was at top dead center and bad backfireing did I throw the position off pleas help

Well how do u set the timeing I was told there is no adjtment for the timeing

There is no traditional means of adjusting the timing, but if the sensor isn't placed correctly in position, it will act like it is out of time. Was there a shim that came with the new sensor for adjustment?

No it didnt it was in the box with braket sliding around
