Is there any way of resetting or over riding the ABS light. The brakes check out fine and are in working order.

No! The ABS part is not working and if you get the codes read, you might be able to fix it. Of course if you let it go long enogh, the bulb will burn out.

Look to make sure the speed sensors don't have any broken wires.
