Hi, my 1196 Buick Century is not overheating but I noticed a small amount of smoke/steam coming from under the front paasenger side of the hood. When I popped the hood the underneath of the hood was soaked. The water pump looks fine as do all the hoses. Where could this be coming from? Please help.

Hi:
If the under side of the hood is sprayed and it's on the water pump side, my guess is the pump is leaking or the overflow bottle. I believe the overflow is on the passanger side of the engine compartment. If the coolant is isolated to that side, it sounds like the cooland is making its way on to the belt and being flung around. In addition to the overflow, look under the waterpump. There is a factory seap hole there. Check for evidence of coolant. Also, if the engine is a 3.1L, check around the intake gasket.

Let me know what you find.
