1996 Buick Century car starts when it wants to

My car first started acting up by starting up runing for 3 seconds then quitting now im lucky if it will even start.
i was told it was the intion control module? Could this be it?

It could be an ignition control module. Have you checked for spark to the engine? The module will cause it not to have spark.

Also, has the check engine light come on? Has the security light stayed on?

The check engine light was not on before now the car wont start at all I was told to change the ignition control and plugs and wires. It needs plugs and wire anyways would this make it run
