After about eight hours of driving nonstop the car suddenly started to bounce/shake/vibrate?

About 2 weeks ago I jumped a curb leaving a McDonald’s. I immediately got out of my car to make sure nothing was visibly damaged. (I suspect that caused a wheel misalignment) At the time, I didn’t think anything was wrong and I didn’t give it a second thought. Until yesterday, I made about a 600+ mile trip. After about 8 hours of pretty much nonstop driving the car suddenly started to bounce/shake/vibrate. At the time I chose to believe it was just the road. I later realized it was the car. There are no sort of sounds coming from the car while driving. The steering wheel doesn’t shake or anything. Nothing is wrong while just idling either. I have checked all the tire pressures and made sure all the lugs were tightened and nothing was out of sorts. I’m thinking it’s an alignment or balance issue. Looking for a second opinion...

Hi,

It could be either the alignment or balance, but I feel you would have noticed it since the issue and not in the middle of that long of a trip.

When you indicate you don't feel it in the steering, that leads me to believe it is one of the rear wheels. Is there any evidence of a tire problem such as a shifted belt? Do you feel it at all speeds?

Let me know.

Joe
