Hello,

This could be a problem with the ground. The ground for your vehicle's stereo is M57 and it is located behind the right side of the dashboard. Check this ground out and make sure it's dry, clean, free of corrosion, and making good metal to metal contact. I have included ground distribution diagram as well as connector end views for your stereo in the diagrams down below. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

My radio comes on and the sound does not. The volume button stays idle and doesn't go up/down. It just sits there. Days later I crank up my car and the radio mysteriously comes on. I turn the car back off and then on again and no more sound.

Just to be clear, when you turn the volume knob the scale does not change? It just stays on the same number? If that is the case then the radio is the issue.

If the volume scale goes up and down, but no volume then I suspect the amp is the issue.

The way to confirm this is to check power on the amp signal from the radio to the amp. I attached the wiring diagram for this. Let's check power and go from there but it does sounds like the radio is the issue.

Just another thought, did you have the battery replaced by dealership? Factory batteries are made a last for the entire warranty period. So, that's something to take in consideration as well. I hope this helps and I'll be watching this post for your reply.

The other option could be that the radio control switch in the steering wheel si defective or the wiring though the column. Dealer is the best option.

No fuses for speakers. Swap the left and right ones to see if the speaker or radio / amp has the problem.

I replaced the speaker because I thought it popped. But it's just that side. The tweeter isn't working either.

Sounds like a problem in the radio but first check the wires between the driver's door hinges. If one broke, there won't be any sound from the door speaker(s) but the dash speakers will still work.

You have one of three problem, the radio, speakers (unlikely) or the speaker connection to the radio.

What you need to do is remove the radio to make sure all connections are plugged in. If they are, I recommend taking the radio to a stereo shop that can check bench test it. Most shops have speakers, a power supply, and can tell you if the radio is bad in under 5 minutes. Also, most don't charge to do it.

In this case, if all connections are attached and tight, I feel the amp in the stereo has gone bad and is no longer supplying a signal to the speakers.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Joe

After trying to replace the power antenna kit im my car (and failing) the stereo and clock in the car no longer turn on when the car is started. I tried multiple different wiring connections when trying to install the power antenna. I thought that it might be a blown fuse but I checked all the fuses that I thought it might be and none were blown. Currently there is no power antenna in the car and the stereo and clock still do not turn on.

Hi GregAl/ Welcome to the forum. It sounds like a fuse is out here is a guide to help you test them for power and the fuse locations below.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

I dont know if this matters but the current head unit for the stereo is an alpine that I installed a couple of years back. Another thing of interest that I just noticed today is that my remote control keys ( that unlock or lock the car / trunk release) no longer work. Maybe that gives another hint to where the problem is.

Yup. I think you're going to find a blown fuse for the radio's memory circuit. It will be tied into a circuit that is always live such as your remote keyless entry system. Dome lights and horn are other common circuits. Look for two fuse boxes, one under the hood and one inside the car.
