The car has not had an issue prior to yesterday. I drove to the store in heavy rain and street flooding. After it sat for 10 minutes, I attempted to leave again. It started, ran poorly and then died. Several attempts to start the car caused white smoke to come out of the exhaust and when it finally did start, smoke from the exhaust was significant. I turned the engine off and now the car will not start at all. What could it be and what should I do?

Sounds like it got some water down in the motor. Try it again after the rain stops. It might need to go to the shop for this issue. Let us know what happens.

Thanks for the reply Doc. I do have a bit of an update to further clarify... I checked the engine oil and it was not milky and the air filters by the firewall were not wet. Hopefully the car was just swamped with water.

I was able to start the car and it idled... kind of rough and then started smoking pretty bad. The smoke was not like burning engine oil.

Any ideas...
