THANKS FOR YOUR EXPERT ADVICE ON ALL THE TOPICS.
MY CONCERN IS THE SPEEDO METER ON THE INTRUMENT PANELS. EVRYTHING ON THE PANEL WORKS FINE BUT ONLY THE SPEEDO METER AND THE SMALL METER UNDER THE REV COUNTER METER THAT SHOWS MPG IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE REPLACED THE WHOLE PANEL CLUSTER BUT THE SAME PROBLEMS REMAIN. The problem could be that it is not getting a speed signal from the switch in the differential. Put a DVOM on the switch and see if if shows a switching action when the rear wheels are turned.(note: this is a reed switch and is not able to generate voltage, so do not attempt to set the meter for voltage, set for resistance) You say you replaced the cluster, it is also possible it will need an S.I. board. as the tempo signal is generated through it. part # for the S.I. is 64-11-9-070-793. try this website
