Hello all, I have a 1989 BMW 325 convertible and the car just won't start. Symptoms: ignition key turns, all instrument panel lights illuminate and car sits quietly. First non-mechanical guess? Starter, Therefore I had that changed out. With the same results. Next a relay? But which one? I have been told that this vehicle has several Relays that may relate to this issue. More symptoms. Checked Voltage to ignition coil with ignition key engaged. Nothing. Checked Voltage at the starter solenoid with the ignition key engaged. Nothing. The car ran problem free. Parked it and when I came back out to run. Nothing.
Any suggestions would be Appreciated. Located in San Diego.
BIG THANKS TO DR. Haghty - He was there that same night and proved that it was not mechanical, but electrical.
Problem Solved. Relay located under dash (under steering column) left side of the panel. Not seated correctly. Fell out after I hit a major pothole in SD.
