PLEASE HELP ME DIAG. SPEEDO NOT WORKING. VSS @ REAR IS NEW AND SHOWS ON-OFF-ON-OFF W/OHM METER WHERE DO I GO NEXT? ARE THERE ANY COMMON FAILURES?

Yes there is a common issue with E-30 instrument clusters. The driver chip fails and the remedy is either seeking out a speedo/tach repair service or outright replacement of the speedo and or the cluster and or the service interval board (the narrow circuit board with the nicad cells soldered to it) I would start with a visual inspection of the disassembled instrument cluster and go from there.If the batteries are old and leaking the service interval board will require replacement.
