Started off with heat kept going in and out, then back window won’t go all the way down. Now my fuel fuse #8 A20 keeps blowing when I put new one in and try to start the car.

Hi,

That fuse powers the ignition switch, the starter relay, and then it goes a few other places.

I'm not sure if the engine size and if it has an automatic or manual transmission, so wiring schematics may differ. However, I want to try something to see if the fuse still blows. I want you to remove the starter relay in the power distribution center. The starter won't engage with this out, but it will help me narrow things down.

If the fuse doesn't fail, inspect the connectors where the relay was removed. If they are good, go to the starter motor and inspect the brown wire at the starter motor to make sure it isn't shorting.

Let me know. Also, I attached a pic of the fuse box below and highlighted the starter relay. If everything appears good with the connectors and wiring, see if there is another relay with the same part number and switch them to see if the fuse still fails.

If there isn't one with the same part number, here is a link that explains how to check a relay.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,

Good morning,

Fuse 8 controls the fuel pump relay, power to the ignition switch, and the starter relay.

I would start by unplugging the two relays and see if the fuse still fails.

If it does, you most likely have a wiring issue in the harness. If it does not, plugin one relay and see if it fails. Do this to eliminate the area of failure. I attached the wiring diagram of fuse 8 for you as well.

Please get back to me with the results.
