1D7GL42K94S697003 is the VIN#. I'm looking to buy this truck from a dealership for $3,000.00 here in Tennessee. I haven't driven the vehicle or never seen it in person, but the fella told me that the only thing it is needing is a blower motor for the AC/heater. The blower motor is around $100.00. My question to whomever is, how big of a job is this? I'm not a master mechanic but I know a little bit. The motor is supposedly under the passenger side dash. I'd also like to know is, will I have to tamper with the airbag components or is this a pretty easy job to replace the blower motor?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, It's a fairly simple job and you don't have to mess with the airbag, Just disable before removal of blower motor. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved:

I've attached picture step-by-step instructions below for that vehicle.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Thanks for the quick reply Danny. With this truck only having 85,000 miles, is there usually issues with these on these trucks? Also, whats the chance that it could be the speed control resistor? Or relay? What would be your process of elimination? Finally, there seems to be 2 models for this vehicle. Could you assist in this matter? I may want to find it online.

Hello again.

Not having the vehicle there in person makes it a little harder to diagnose. It could be one of those three things. If the motor works but not on all speeds it would tend to be a resistor/controller issue. You would check to see the resistor connection for melting/corrosion/loose connection. If motor doesn't work at all then you would check the motor itself and check the relay. I've attached a picture of an AutoZone brand blower motor and resistor if you want to use part number cross reference and also the factory Dodge part numbers. Factory parts are great but will always be higher in price. Hope this helps and again thanks for using 2CarPros.

Great information! Thank you so much. The last question I have is, by removing the negative battery terminal from the battery, will deactivate the airbags and make it safe to work on?

You're welcome!

Yes, you can insert the key in the dash to manually disable the passenger airbag as a precaution. Disconnect the battery cable as well to be safe. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
