Blower motor cover

That cover is just insulation and it's very common for it to disintegrate after a few years in the engine compartment, especially when handled. You could order a new one from the manufacturer if they still make it but to tell you the truth, we just usually leave it that way and just keep as much together as possible.

Thanks wrenchtech when I hear blower motor cover I assume inside even though there are some in the engine compartment. The engine compartment is even worse with heat and plastic don't mix. Yeah a car that old unless you find it on eBay or pick a part and it to isn't all broke up. Then your good luck replacing it.

This insulator is actually made of rubber and the rubber deteriorates so it just breaks off in the high heat areas.
