The blower motor quit working along with the dashboard gauges. I replaced the blower motor resistor which was obviously burned out. The blower and gauges all worked again. But after the truck went for about ten miles, the blower motor and gauges began to only work intermittently. Now when we try to drive the truck, both surge on and off.

The root issue is likely a blower motor that is drawing too much current. That may have resulted in one of the plugs overheating which would have created extreme resistance in the circuit. I would replace the blower motor and inspect all the plugs.
