I was still driving then switched the vehicle off and when trying to start the car just did not want to. Dash lights come on but do not start from key. When ignition is on and try to push start does not want to start. If I I keep a cloth with petrol by the intake and bridge the starter then it starts, as soon as I take the cloth away it shuts off. Did take it for a diagnostics test and results came back all clear, no faults on ECU or key transponder. What can be the fault?

It sounds like it is not getting fuel. If you are fully covering the intake, that is functioning as a choke and forcing a richer fuel mixture to the engine. I would first check fuel pump pressure. Determine if it is within the manufacturer's specs. If it is not, then either you have a plugged fuel filter, a bad pump, or a power issue to the pump.

Thank you sir, but fuel pressure is there. It is more like the relay on the pump or injectors do not work but all is tested with diagnostics and all shows clear. But what I do not understand is even if it was a relay or a fuse, then why does it not want to start from the key or if the ignition is on and try to push start?

If the fuel injectors are not opening, even if pressure is present, it would not fire. The Engine Control Module is not commanding the fuel injectors to work. This can mean a fault with the cam sensor or the ECM.

Try disconnecting the battery and wait 30 minutes and reconnect to test.
