Be sure to make note of the radio code, which is supplied on a tag with the owner's information or recorded in the owner's manual. As an anti-theft feature, the code must be entered into the radio once power has been removed or any time the battery is disconnected.
NOTE
The radio will not operate until the code is entered, and if entered incorrectly more than 3 times, the radio cannot be reprogrammed for 24 hours.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
On radios equipped with 2 vertical holes on either side of their face plate:
Insert a set of radio removal hooks into the holes at the sides of the radio chassis.
Carefully seat the hooks.
Push the tools away from each other to release the spring clips and slide the radio outward far enough to unplug the wiring in the back.
On radios equipped with 2 slots in their face plate:
Insert a set of radio removal keys into the slots as follows:
Audi models: Horizontal slots on the bottom at the lower left and lower right of the radio chassis. Use Tool No. 3344, or equivalent
Passat models: Vertical slots just inward from the side of the radio chassis. Use Tool No. 3316, or equivalent
Carefully seat the keys into the radio chassis and slide the radio outward.
Disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna lead.
Remove the radio and then the removal tools.
To install:
Connect the electrical connectors and antenna lead, then place the radio into the opening.
Carefully press the radio flush with the console. As the radio slides, the retainer should snap into place without excessive force.
