Hi

a few weeks ago my heater stopped working in my audi a4 I was told its the heater core that needs replacing but its a long job so I opted nt to have it done.
the other day I was driving my car and the oil can symbol came on the dash I checked the dipstick and it was ok and above the min mark.
i drove for a while and the oil temp sensor went to over 120 and the car cut off.
i checked under the bonnet and the coolant was empty.
i waiting about 10 mins put some water in and the car started again.
i drove another 10 mins or so and a smell of burning oil came inside the car from the air vents.
the engine oil level seems ok.
even when the coolant was empty the light never came on only the oil can light came on.
i obviously have a water leak somewhere as I am losing water

what do you think is wrong? Blown head gasket?
oil and water are not mixing no sludge

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

The first thing to do is get the cooling system pressure tested hot as this will help locate any external coolant leaks, do this first and report back your findings.

Hi there,

This will be evident sooner rather than later, but I feel that you should not have a problem, just keep an eye on the coolant level & the temp just to make sure.

Thanks for the reply
i was just worried as the car kept cutting off when the oil temp went high
and I noticed there was oil near the plugs.
Id hate to think I spent all this money and I knackered the engine.
Ill do the water pump on the weekend and let u know hoe its running
