I recently changed the battery and after I changed the battery it won’t start. All the lights radio everything comes on normal but car won’t start and key gets locked in the ignition. But if I hook up the scanner reader and hit the button to clear codes it will then start. I have a viper aftermarket alarm also. I’m stumped. Please help.

Hi,

When you connector the scan tool, is there a code before you hit the clear codes option?

The idea that the key won't come out is interesting. Does the gear indicator light show park and all other gears? Also, I want you to check the ignition switch fuse. It is under the hood. I attached a pic to help you find it. In addition to checking the fuse, confirm there is power to it.

Here is a link that you may find helpful:

Check that fuse and let me know what you find. Also, let me know if the starter is engaging when this happens.

Take care,
Joe
