Nissan, D21 Hardbody 5 speed 2wd, 1988, 150000 miles, z24 4 cylinder. Before it wouldn't start at all, it would take two or three times to try and start it before it actually turned over but now it doesn't even try to start. I took the starter and solenoid to advanced auto to check it out, works flawlessly, 2 day old battery and alternator. I turned on the head lights and tried to start it and they didn't even dim, when I turn the key, it doesn't even make a noise. Did the ignition burn out? If not what do you think the problem would be?

To test if it is the ignition switch bypass it by running a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to the starter. It is a good idea to disable the ignition system prior to doing this. (Removing the cable between your coil or ignition pack and your distributor)
