Air conditioner not working?

Ok thank you so much ill check it out to see if the clutch is engaging I just recently got the heads done cause it did have less power compared to now and the thermostat I pulled it out when my car was over heating it stayed closed so that causes the heater not to work properly.

1993 Toyota Camry front wheel drive. 200 k miles. Heater works. AC turns on, but does not blow cold air. Coolant reservoir is full.

I have a 1993 Toyota Camry 4 cyl with 180K miles. The car runs great and I keep it serviced. I just had the AC compressor and drier replaced. My problem is that the AC works great in the morning and late in the evening. I live in Central Florida and when I try to use the AC in mid afternoon when the outside temp is around 85 degrees or higher, the AC does not work. Is there some type of exterior temperature sensor that would disable the compressor during high external temperature days? I love the car and plan on keeping it a while but this noon day heat is brutal. Thanks ChiefJBJ

My wifes car - 1993 Toyota LE V6 - with about 80,000 miles on it, runs really well. It is serviced at a dealership every time service is due.

When we turn on the A/C it will put out cold air (as it normally did) for about 20 minutes. Then if we just leave the A/C running (with the windows down to cool ourselfs off) In about an hour it will start putting out normal cold air - for about 20 minutes.

The dealer gave it a freon charge and sent us on our way - didn't help.

I have experence working on my own cars - about 40 years. Could you tell me what I could check. I have the shop manuals. Dealership said it would cost $1700.00 (without looking at the car.)

Sorry for taking so long to reply to your advice.

The only thing I haven't been able to check is the thermistor. Can you tell me where the plug connector for it is located?

I wanted to disconnect it and measure the resistance, while the a/c is running. I can put a resistor across the connection on the engine side so the a/c will continue to run.

Could you expand on this - I don't understand the '20 degrees part'? Do I need to measure temp?

1993 camry. Ac button blinks on and off. I can depress the button off and back on and that takes care of it. Then sometime it flashes continually the I have to cut the car off and restart and that causes the ac to work. Also sometime the light stays on and it just starts blowing hot air. Took it to toyota and they said it was the ac amplifier got that and replaced it but those symptons continue. Also replaced the ac relay in the fuse box under the hood.

Thanks for your reply. Is the ac switch circuit one part or a board with several switches attached to it?

Is the ac switch a part that can be replaced on its own or is it one that needs to be tested to make sure there are no shorts in it? One last question where is it located under the hood or behind the glove compartmentg? Thanks again for your help.

I have '93 toyota camry with 190k miles on it. The ac seems working during winter and blows hot air pretty good. During summer, the air conditioner doesn't work, and gives hot air. I would greatly appreciate your suggestions regarding what might be the problem with ac and how can I fix it?
