Hi guys, had a oil pump failure and the piston connecting rod broke down so took the whole engine apart and put new crankshaft, oil pump two new pistons. Now car cranks just fine, have spark, new battery, but still won't start. Please help.

If you have spark and fuel, the timing is correct and you have engine compression, it has no choice but to run. Tell me, have you checked for fuel pressure? You indicated is has spark, so that isn't an issue.

Check fuel pressure and let me know what you find. Here is a link that explains how:

I will watch for your reply. Also, if you don't have a pressure gauge and can't get one, see if it starts for a couple seconds using starting fluid.

Let me know.

Hello Joe, the only thing I'm not sure about is the timing though I've heard several experts doing it for me.

If you already checked fuel pressure, do me a favor. See if it starts for a couple seconds using starting fluid. If it does, then we will know it is a fuel related issue. If it has spark and won't start with starting fluid, chances are timing is off.

Let me know what you find.

It is very possible. If you can record the engine when it is cranking so I can hear it, I usually can tell if there is a timing issue just by sound. Often times people record with their phones and upload it from them.

Let me know.
