Hi All

I have a 1990 Hreg 1.2 polo estate. I have an odd starting problem. The engine turns over and over and over and eventually fires the next turn it will start. Once it has been started, it starts fine until the next day. Have got big spark, and a new battery. Could it be fuel pump? How do I test that the fuel is coming through?

Many thanks

Check the fuel pressure with a universal fuel pressure tester to rule out a weak fuel pump and a clogged fuel filter-start here-could be the coolant temperature sensor that acts like a choke system on a Carb for initial cold starts

The coolant temperature sensor is on the engine and not near the carb. I have a fuel tester on its way based on advice from a member of clubpolo, I'll update if this is succesful.

Thanks

Were you able to resolve this issue wurzel101?
The coolant temperature sensor sends a signal to the carburetion system to turn the choke on or off depending on engine temperature.
