1989 Acura Legend V6 Two Wheel Drive Manual 197487 miles

I got the car a few weeks ago. When I receeved it, It wouldn't turn over.I was told it had a bad starter. So I've been push starting it do 2 lack of cash. Once started. Then one day I noticed the battery light was flickering while driving. And I had a on & off lack of power while ecsellarating. The next day the battery was dead, and it wouldn't push start.I had a friend look at it, and he told me that my starter was fine. The reason it wouldn't crank over was because of the car alarm. He disconected the alarm. And it turned over, and started. But he said my battery was shot. The next day I got a jump start. Drove it around some, and it started up after that. But the anti lock & SRS light remained on. Then battery when dead again.I had someone jump start it for me. But whenhe removed the cables. It had a surge of power an went dead. Blowing some fuses. Power seats, engin cooling fan & fule pump fuse.I replaced fule pump fuse, but the power seat fuse blows the min. I try 2 insert it.I tryed sevral times. But cat did jump start and ran great. Then a day laterit started doing the battery flickering thing an loss of power again. The battery is hold ing a charge. But all the lights that I menchened earlyer our still on. It's wierd, When its idling, the battery light go's off. But when I give it gas it flickers, and still no power. It feels like it's not getting enough gas. When I give it gas, the lights get brighter. But then dim again.I've been told it't the battery, then it's the alternaiter. What our your thouhgts?Like I said, My money sittuation is very low.I don't wan't 2 buy parts that arn't needed. Is there a cheep way af finding the problem? As you can tell, I know very little about cars. Just the basics.I know that the battery provides the power 2 turn it over. But once it's turned over, dosn't the alltanaiter take over from there?Help me Please! And please forgive my spelling, and me going into such detail.

I don't see you ever mentioning that the alternator was checked and tested. I suspect that. It could be charging but not with a sufficient amount of current.

Hey so I too own an 1989 Acura Legand automatic and I had that same issue with my car it first started as the lights flicking and then about a week later it started affecting me while I was driving it felt like I was losing power while driving it would bogg down then shoot the rpms high because I was still hitting the gas so I finally went to auto zone bought a new alternator and it seemed to fix it but 3 months later it started again so I went out and bought a new battery and it was still dying like something was getting shorted out but I couldnt find anything to support the wire shorting out theory I finally got irratated enough that I had someone else look at it and they told me my alternator went bad which I didnt get because I just replaced that stupid thing

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, that is the worst thing that happens to us when trying to repair a vehicle. We bang out heads on a wall because new parts are supposed to be good parts but unfortunately they are not always that way.
