When replacing the alternator, do I have to remove the axle to get to it? I have read some information on this and I am unsure if I want to try it myself or take it to a repair shop.

On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming procedures.
2. Disconnect alternator connector from alternator, then remove white wire from top alternator terminal.
3. Loosen alternator adjusting nut to slacken drive belt, then remove mounting nut and slip drivebelt off alternator pulley.
4. Remove lower mounting bolt, then lift alternator upward and remove lower and upper mounting bracket bolts and mounting brackets.
5. Remove adjusting nut and upper mounting bolt, then lift alternator from vehicle.
