Hi! Okay, so basically my truck stopped running a few years ago and we had done everything in our power to fix it. We bought lots of new things and later brought it to a mechanic in 2022. After spending thousands the mechanic said he had know clue what was wrong with it but tried to convince us to sell it to him. Of course we didn’t. It’s now 2024 and almost 2 years later. I’m 16 and I really want to repair this truck because it means a lot to me. The issue is that it will turn on but it won’t accelerate. Like at all. I had looked to see that there is an ipdm issue in this model it seems. Could that be the problem or is the problem from somewhere else? (There was a new battery when we tried to fix it in 2022 so we know that’s not the issue) help me please! Thank you

Hi,

I would be happy to help, but I need more information. Also, the IPDM usually will cause electrical faults, but this doesn't sound like that type of issue.

Now, when you start it, will the engine REV if the vehicle is in park or neutral? How old is the fuel in the tank? Have you tried scanning the computer to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes that may point us in the right direction?

If you haven't scanned it yet, that is where I would start. However, if the battery has been disconnected or drained, the codes may have been lost.

Here is a link showing what I am referring to:

Let me know as much as you can. For example, what was replaced and what has been checked.

Take care,

Joe

Hang in there. We'll get it running.

Hi Joe! If there’s an easier way to get in contact with you that would be nice. You seem like you would be a lot of help and it’ll be easier to share information with you. Just let me know. I haven’t scanned it yet; I’ll have to buy one. I know my car parts for the most part but I'm clueless on finding the problems so this will be a journey. If I could get your email or number I can share everything that’s been replaced because it’s a list and further explain the situation. I haven't cranked it in a bit, but I know it does turn on. I’ll have to check it some point tomorrow. I’ll provide feedback on what happens later. Thank you

Hi,

Unfortunately, I am required to keep all conversations here on the site. I hope you understand.

Let me know if you are able to get it scanned. If there are codes, let me know what they are.

Take care,

Joe
