Hi Ken and Bob,

In October 2012 I bought a 2012 Dodge Caravan with all of 20 miles on it. On November 26, 2012, when I started my car and put it into drive it would not move. I slightly depressed the gas pedal and still nothing. My husband came out and put the car into reverse and at first it would not do anything, but when he depressed on the accelerator it made a loud noise from the rear of the car and then a popping sound and it did not move at that time. About an hour later he tried again and the car finally moved, (only about 3 feet back and forth). Does this sounds like the transmission is already shot on this brand new car???
Thanks...Maria

Hi
Well sounds more like the park brake is malfuntioning going by the noise in the rear this sounds like when you hold the brake and push the gas at the same time. as if the rear brakes are locked up..

Hi the park brake may not be releasing. it could be a seized cable or a broken brake part causing this. try and release the park brake place vehicle in neutral on level ground see if you can push vehicle back and forth freely if yes brakes are released if not something is stuck. i would have it checked by a dealer since it is a new car warranty should take care if this.. good luck

Hi and you certainly are welcome. Yes since it is brand new and this problem could cause the brakes to overheat while driving. Iwould have it towed. thanks for asking. Billymac
