About a week ago I started having problems with my Nissan starting. Once started and driving I have difficulty getting up to speed and cannot go over 60 mph. In parking mode when I push the acclerator down to the floor the highest rpm is 2000. The check engine light is on. Thanks.

This vehicle should still be under warranty and you should get the dealer to have a look at it.

The MIL indicating means an error has been detected by the engine management system and requires a scan tool to retrieve the trouble code to find out what is wrong.

So with the help with your website I was able to replace my air intake boot in my car which need to be replace. So thank you for that. But my service engine soon light is still on. What can be the issue? Because the underlying problems of the stuttering and hesitation and cutting off seems to be fixed but my service engine soon light still pops up. Do I need to get something to filter out the engine?

Re-scan for codes if it is the same code you will need a scanner to erase that code if car is fixed.

As stated, have the car scanned. The light can be turned on by many items that you will not see, feel or hear but is still causing a problem. For instance, you repaired the air intake boot. If that was open to outside air it may have drawn in dirt that contaminated a sensor causing the light. Or it could be something entirely different like a bad gas cap, or a broken wire. The code(s) at least give you some idea of where to look. But do not fall into the trap that the code actually points to a bad part, it is only what the computer interprets as a problem.

I have a Nissan Sentra 2006. Yesterday, the 'Service engine soon' started appearing and this morning, I am unable to accelerate the car beyond 15 rpm. The car moves very slowly at 5mph. The air filter looks clean. Please let me know if you need additional details or any manual checks that I can make before handing it over to the mechanic. Thanks!

Here is an explanation of the trouble code.

DTC P2101 ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL FUNCTION
DESCRIPTION
Electric throttle control actuator consists of throttle control motor, throttle position sensor, etc.

The throttle control motor is operated by the ECM and it opens and closes the throttle valve.

The current opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor and it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle control motor to make the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to driving condition.

ON BOARD DIAGNOSIS LOGIC
This self-diagnosis has the one trip detection logic.

CONDITION

Electric throttle control function does not operate performance

POSSIBLE CAUSE

†Harness or connectors (Throttle control motor circuit is open or shorted)
†Electric throttle control actuator

FAIL-SAFE MODE
When the malfunction is detected, ECM enters fail-safe mode and the MIL lights up.

Engine operating condition in fail-safe mode ECM stops the electric throttle control actuator control, throttle valve is maintained at a fixed opening (approx. 5 degrees) by the return spring.

Thank you. My mechanic says the problem is with the air-control valve and has to be replaced. I wanted to know how much should I get worried about this mal-function, as I bought this used car a week back. I have an option to return the car. Please let me know.

The code is not for the air control valve. Normally such problem should be minor and it could be some loose wiring or a bad throttle control motor and some tweaking or replacement of the parts concerned should get the car going in good order.

However it is a safety concern as you do not know when the car is going to loose power abruptly so it should be resolved as soon as possible.

I m trying to find out why or some possibilities of why my check engine light came on my 2004 nissan sentra. It has 99,500 miles on it. And the end of the month I have to get a safety inspection. I had a chevy blazer 10 years ago and had the same problem and found out it was the o2 sensor. Which I dont think was much. If my nissan sentra is still running even with the check engine light on what does it sound like is the problem. I know in april im do to replace my spark plugs and do a transmission flush. And do you know where I can take it to get the check engine light checked that wont cost much.

Check engine light can be ANYTHING. Take it to Autozone, they will do it for free. Post the code NUMBERS and we'll help diagnose.

Hello, my car got overheated and the car wouldnt start. After diagosis engine head had a crack and water and oil was mixed up. Since I got a used engine which has done 24000 miles at the same price to fix the head gasket/head, the mechanic replaced the engine. I drove it for couple of miles and the service engine soon light came up. Also the O/D light blinks when I start the car and turns off while driving. The car stalls to exceed 40mph. The mechanic checked and said the car is good and wanted me to drive for a few miles since the engine was replaced. The computer didnt show any error codes. What is the issue here?

I think the main issue is the mechanic doesnt want to stand behind his work. Driving it for a while isnt going to fix anything. If you go to autozone and get the computer scanned(they do it for free) give us the code numbers and we can go from there

I checked with autozone and they said that the computer isnt shoing up any errror. They suspect some loose wiring and hence no error codes. Moreover they said that the first thing would be to change the spark plugs and then check if the pickup is good. Pls advise.

That diagnosis I can tell came from the guy from autozone. Have we tried having the previous mechanic look at it again? No communication is probably from a blown fuse. Give the guy another shot and get back to us
