Truck listed above is the Sport model. It started to make a noise under the cam shaft sensor. Then made a noise stopped rattling then just quit running and hasn't since. Changed the crank shaft sensor. New plugs, an still nothing. Getting fuel spark, engine will crank all day and still nothing. Been told it's out of time. But can't check timing without the engine running. I'm at a loss please help.

Hi,

If you have both spark and fuel, something happened. Tell me, you indicated a noise under the cam sensor which stopped and the vehicle turned off. You also indicate you replaced the crank sensor. Did you inspect the cam sensor?

Now, if I can hear the engine crank, I can usually tell if it is a timing issue. If it is timing, either a chain broke or has jumped time. If you can record it cranking and upload it for me to hear, I can usually tell.

As far as timing, the idea that you heard noise near the cam sensor, there is a good chance it was timing chain related. However, you should hear the engine trying to start or Let me know.

Oh sorry but forgot. No the engine doesn't do nothing now but crank no hesitation, misfiring, no slamming like it's trying to start. There's just nothing. Okay, thank you sir. Yes I checked the cam shaft sensor but not with a good digital ohm meter. I've got a better one now. There was a rattling noise under the cam shaft like the fan was hitting the shroud. But it wasn't. Then I got dropped off. The guy who owns the truck said he was driving an there was a pop an like it let go ran fine and hasn't ran since. Umm I will get that upload for you first thing this morning and thank you once again for your help.

Hi,

I have a feeling one of the timing chain tensioners has failed and allowed it to jump time. Most likely, the noise was related to a loose chain. Regardless, If it is a timing issue, you should be okay. By definition, this isn't an interference engine.

I will watch for your reply.
