2008 Camry LE. When we have our dash control set for recirulate air the light stays on for about 3 minutes then goes off putting it on fresh air. We have the other control set for sending the air to the feet or to the face. We know if you put the control on defrost the recirulate light stays off forcing it to fresh air. Our toyota dealer thought this was normal, but we don't remember it doing it when we bought it.

It is normal. When you defrost, you need fresh air to enter the vehicle. If you continue to recirculate the cabin air, the windows will eventually fog. You will get a small area on the windshield where the air hits that you can see through, but the rest will fog. You want fresh air to defrost.

Let me know if this answers your question.
