Hi:

It's not that bad of a job other than tight spaces. Refer to our homepage under the DIY section and look up belt routing. There will be schematics for your vehicle that will indicate where the tensioners are located and how the belts are to be routed.

Yes. Looks like that one comes off first. Here are the adjustment bolts on the power steering pump. Once that is off, you loosen the generator bolts that I circled. You don't remove the bolts. Just loosen them so you can move the generator to take the tension off the belt.

Car has a screeching high pitch noise when starting. The previous owner changed belts and tightening, noise increases when AC/heat on.

Have all pulleys and tensioners checked, but remove belts first then start car see if it still does it, if not it is in accessory drive.

Thank you HMAC300. Is that a shovel-head? Bear with me here since not a mechanic. So, I will take belts out and when check tensioners and pulleys. What am I looking for? Is this an accessible job for beginners? If it does not make noise when I start car without the belts means that is an accessory drive. Where is that drive? Do I need to replace anything?

The accessory drive is alternator/ac pump and power steering pump. Check pulleys for noise and wobble if they wobble they will make noise. Also if you put a new belt on replace the tensioner as well. A lot of times it's a alternator bearing making noise or clutch on a/c pump.
