Recently been having problems with my car, I have a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The problem was it makes a loud clicking noise whenever I go to start the car and won't start. I suspected it was a dead battery as it sat in the freezing cold for 2 days. Then I proceeded to charge the battery and the car started fine. As I drove it around the Battery light came on in the dashboard. I parked the car and turned it off. Then I tried turning the car back on the same clicking noise is heard. Wanted feedback to see if it's a bad battery or alternator problems. Please and Thank you.

The "Battery" warning light means it is not being recharged by the alternator. To prove that, measure the battery voltage with the engine off, then with it running. With it off, 12.2 volts means it is okay but discharged. Charge it at a slow rate for an hour, then remeasure it. A good, fully-charged battery will measure 12.6 volts.

With the engine running, the battery voltage must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. If the alternator isn't working, you'll find the same as in the last step. There are a couple more voltage measurements to take before condemning the alternator.
