I have two big problems with my car that I just can't figure out.

Firstly, It's blowing white smoke and the engine oil is turning a milky white, Head Gasket? That's what I thought except I'm not losing any coolant, all levels are topped up and the running temp is fine. There is a strong smell of fuel from the engine oil though. Could a bad fuel injector cause these symptoms?

Secondly, my car is running at a very high rpm to gear ratio. For example; In my experience the usual ratio would be about 3000rpm to 140kph/85mph 5th gear (or 6th in a 6 speed gearbox) but my car is hitting 4000rpm at 120kph/75mph, 2500rpm at 80kph/50mph and so on. Fuel injector? Clutch?

I've just put huge money into it to replace chain, guides, tensioner etc. But things aren't looking so good.

Any feedback would be very much appreciated!

It certainly is sounding like a head gasket problem, get a head check done, this is a simple and quick chemical test for Co in the cooing system, if positive you will have a head problem, do this first, most mechanics can do this test for you.

Sorry did not address the second part of the question, this is sounding like a slipping clutch, a mechanic can do a slip test to confirm this one as well.

Thanks a lot for your reply, you've just more or less confirmed what I had feared. I just thought the fact that I'm not losing any coolant was a bit strange. I'll do the test on it and see. Cars are an absolute heartache!

Thanks Again!

I feel that it just may be early stage just now, but regardless if there is a head problem, you really have no option, do the test and this should confirm the problem.
