Hi,
Last Friday 5/21/2010, I had brakes repaired (rotors, pads and calipers on front)
After driving 15 miles I saw a leak of antifreeze when I parked my car. It wasn't leaking before the brake repair. Is there any relativity to the brakes/antifreeze leak?

Hi there,

I would say that it is just a coincidence that it has started to leak now, there is no connection with the two systems, go get a cooling system pressure test done to locate this leak.

I have a 1998 Dodge Stratus with about 98,000 miles on it. I noticed a while ago that sometimes when I would drive it for a while and turn it off, the engiine would make kind of like a gurgling noise. I checked the coolant and noticed it was low so I put some in, thinking it would solve my problem. A few weeks ago though, the over heated engine light came on on my way to work. I put more coolant in and it was fine. I noticed after that though that there was a leak from underneath the car, coming from the lower right side of the engine (if your standing in front of the car). Since then, the gage in the car that informs you of how hot the engine is has been going up and down everytime I drive. One day it will be fine and the next it will be almost all the way up. Usually though it is about half way up. I stoped using the air conditioning so I know that that has nothing to do with it. I also know that it is leaking coolant because the leakage is the same neon green color that the coolant is. Do you have any idea what could be leaking? I'm hoping its just a hose. And it will not be too expensive to fix. Last summer I had to get the transmission replaced for $500. Do you have any idea how much it might cost to get a hose replaced or what else it may be? Thanks, Jessica

You need to have the cooling system pressure checked. It requires hooking up a pump to where the radiator cap is and pumping air into the system so it will put pressure on it and wherever the leak is should be easy to find since it will literally spray out. Kcjewell3@hotmail. Com

I just brought a dodge stratus 2001 85,500 mi. The car overheats after about 45 minutes of driving. The system has no real leaks, all the fluid comes out of the reservoir boiling. I've changed the thermostat, temperature sensor, temperature switch, radiator cap, reservoir, and tighten hoses. I also added some stopleak in the radiator. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Adding stop leak to your radiator just compounded the problem. It blocks the coolant vanes and reduces coolant flow.

If the coolant hasn't been changed with that many miles it has degraded and causes serioius deposits in the radiator. I am afraid you may need a new one. Good luck

I've flushed the radiator and refilled it with the pressure filler ( it gets the air out of the system ). I dont know what to do. I've just about changed everything. HELP

I have seen Chrysler products break water pump impelllers, perhaps about a dozen or so in the past 40 years but it would cause your problem.

My personal choice is to remove the radiator and have it rodded if they can--adding stop leak is a bad idea because it restricts the water flow even more by collecting in small areas.

What engine do you have?

You have a blown head gasket exaust is leaking into your resavoire the preasure is forcing all the fluid out. I had the same problem on my LHS. A temp fix would be to get a new cap rated at least 19 pounds this would stop the blow by. Worked for me. But get your headgasket changed soon.
