05 Monte Carlo ls. The car is shutting off at while idling or turning right. The entire front end starts shaking hard while there is a loud clunking noise from the front end and black, smelly smoke comes out of the back end. Took it to a mechanic and they replaced the mass flow sensor as well as cleaned everything, however it did not fix it. Also changed plugs and wires. HELP!!!

Black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture. Have them check the temperature switch. Its job it to tell the computer the ambient temp and the coolant temp. From that, the computer determines how rich the fuel mixture should be. Also, they should check fuel pump pressure to make sure the regulator is working.

Let me know what you find.
