Driving home from work the truck was working, get home and park the car black smoke comes out and now nothing works. I try to start and it wont go. What can be the problem? Do you know how much it could cost as well or what I should do since I can't move the car either? Everything looks good. Even had a friend look at it who knows cars and sometimes does mechanic stuff and he doesnt know what it could be but it might be something expensive to fix. I hope not since I can't afford it.

If it came from the exhaust, that tells me the engine, for some reason, was running extremely rich. In other words, it was getting too much gas. Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure to make sure the regulator is working and the pressure is within the manufacturer's specs? Is the engine getting spark to the plugs?

Well yesterday we had a friend of ours try to fix it but nothing worked. I think we have to respark it again because its completely dead. Yesterday when turning the key you can hear trying to work but now all it makes is a clicking noise. So after we jump the cables we should hear it kind of work but it wont go completely. I heard that if their is black smoke from a diesel its because there is to much oil? Is that true? There was no engine light going on. Everything was working fine. It was just once my dad wanted to leave that day and he turned the key on the car that black smoke was coming out and it wasnt going. Not sure if we have checked the fuel pump pressure but I think we did. We checked everything and it all looks good. We got new batteries like 2 years ago. Dad charged everything so not sure. We are stuck on what the problem is. We can't move our truck at all.
