I have only located one blend door actuator and I have got the whole center console, radio and climate controls out. The only one I have found is located is behind the climate controls and radio. If this is the one it looks like the dash may have to come out to do much of anything. I hope I am wrong but I am almost at that point anyway. (Is this the one, 1997 Dodge Intrepid). PS. The lower center dash support electrical component and duct work is in the way I cannot find all the screw's to be able to move it out of the way. I have pulled a dash before but not this. Lol. Mike

Joe, I do not know what I did but I plugged the climate controls back in and it is getting warmer but not as hot as I would like. I can hear the actuator working, so I think I will go back together with it while I am ahead and back flush the system and change the thermostat to see if it will get a little warmer. I am use to heaters running you out of the car. Mike

I have a 1995 Dodge Intrepid that I can't seem to get any heat in the cabin. I have replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap. The top hoses are hot, but the bottom hose that comes out of the radiator is cold.

Help.

Feel the heater hoses. They should be too hot to hold onto for very long. The cold lower radiator hose just means the radiator is doing its job. If the heater hoses are cool, suspect a plugged heater core. Usually you can flush it with a garden hose. If the hoses are hot, suspect a problem with an actuator on the heater box or with the controller.

The heater in my 1994 Dodge Intrepid provides only lukewarm heat. Plenty of coolant, no leaks. Could it be the thermostat? How do I replace the thermostat?

Hi:
First, determine if the engine is running at a normal operating temp. Check the gauge when it's warmmed up. It should be running at aprox 200 degrees. If it is, the thermostat is fine. If it runs much cooler, the t-stat needs replaced.

With the engine COLD, drain the radiator, follow the upper rad hose back to the engine, and it will end at the t-stat housing. Remove the hose, unbolt the housing and the t-stat is under it. Replace it the same way as you remove it and reverse the sequence.

Let me know if this helps.

Merry Christmas,

Joe

I have a 2001 Intrepid. Both the heat and defrost worked like a charm a few weeks ago, but now when I start my car, it justs blows cool air even when the car engine heats up to normal operating temp. When I start driving, there is no problem (both heat from vents and defrost work fine), but when I am stuck in traffic, it will again start bowing cool air. Do you think my blower fan is the problem, or do you think it could be the heater coil?

Shannon

P.S. I also had my A/C system replaced in August (compressor, expansion valve, and accumulator). I doubt the problem stemmed from this, but I just wanted to cover all the bases)
