I have 2004 Impala. The speedometer, the heat gauge and the light behind the heat selection slide do not work. The speedometer and the heat guage needles keep going around in circles. Fixing the problem will cost me 1,000 at GM (They don't check what's wrong, they simply replace the whole console). At Midas, the diagnostic will cost 105.00/hr and could be a 5 hour diagnostic before they will replace the wires (which will cost extra). Is there a quick way to find out what is wrong and fix it myself?

I hate to say it, but chances are the cluster itself is the problem. There isn't one sensor or one wire that would cause all these problems to happen at once. You may want to check a salvage yard to see if you can get a good cluster and replace it yourself.

Let me know if you have other questions.
