2004 Audi A4 Oil leak

Do you recommend using Pro-Seal leak stop? Long term, what are the pros and cons. I plan on having this car for a while.

Is it engine oil or transmission oil? I do not believe in stop leaks as they are temporary at best. I say put in a dye and then drive it a bit and then use the UV lights with the glasses and find the leak and fix it.
