Have a 2003 lincoln ls engine 3.9 has been over heating, replaced resvor tank, termoste, drove it and then heared a pop sound and steam from over hood, blowed a plug from the mainfold what caused this and what could be the problem

What plug is that?

When pressure builds up in the cooling system, any area that is weak would give way.

You should test the cooling system for excessive pressure which could possibly be due to a failed head gasket.

engine is over heating going into the red after about 15 min the thermosate has been replaced twice but it still is over heating

from the overheating, you may have damaged the head gaskets from constant overheating.

the thermostat may have been the original issue but has gone beyond that now.
