My 2002 Hyundai Sonata will not fire. I have fuel (quality unknown). I located the fuel pump. There is a 12 voltage reading when my wife turns the key. My ex-mechanic brother says to also check for water in the tank, and fuel flow to the injectors. I would like to check the fuel line to the injectors first. Am I on the right track? Also need to know where to make the disconnect to check for fuel with the least damage to the fuel lines.

I'm going to make this real simple for you. Check to see if the engine will start for a couple seconds using starting fluid. Let me know what you find.

I took my brother's advice and removed one of the fuel lines to check flow.

Boy did I get a surprise!

I removed the line going back to the gas tank rather than the one coming from the pump.

After washing off the gasoline that came out of the injector housing, I reconnected the line and it started up fine.

The only difference was I had disconnected the charcoal filter fuel canister down under the fuel filler.

I went to Autozone and replaced the filter only.

I kept the original sensor on and used the same canister housing and hoses.

On my next fill-up I'm going to see if I still have issues with the fuel pumping slow at the gas station.

Thanks for the assist.

Ron.
