How can I lift the GVWR for my Dodge RAM 1500 - 2002 - 5.9 - Quad Cab 4WD from 6650 to 7700?
The ratings by desing are:
GVWR: 6650
GAWR (front): 3900
GAWR (rear): 3900
The truck has been involved in an accident (not my fault - a guy slipped and hit the left rear wheel) the rear axel would probably need to be replaced.
In Belgium, this truck is qualified for only 2+1 passengers. This due to the low GVWR.
So I try to find out what can be done technically (and approved by Dodge) to lift teh GVWR up to 7700 pounds.

Thanks a lot for handling my request.

Kind regards,

Joris

I don't know how the laws work over there but over here, no matter what you did to the truck, the capacity certification would not change.

Laws are different everywhere and Belgium is really a special case.
I contacted the ministry of transport and they told me they would consider to accept the higher GVWR, but only in case the manufacturer (Dodge USA for the RAM) specifies under which conditions they (Dodge) agree with a higher GVWR.
I was trying to contact Dodge for this issue trough the internet, but is was even not possible to register myself as a Dodge-RAM-owner because I do not reside in the States.
