Revved it some more and it began to bog down again and then shut off?

My dad bought this truck brand new and kept it in emaculate shape. I bought it from him last year and have done the same. We have only used Chevron gasoline. A couple of weeks ago, the tank was extremely low when I put gas in it. Drove maybe 3 miles after putting a 1/4 tank of gas in with no problem. Came out about 15 minutes later, truck started up no problem, but a few blocks down the rode it bogged down when I tried to accelerate. I changed the fuel filter but had the same result. Dropped the tank and remove the filter on the fuel pump. Sprayed some starter fluid in the intake and it started up. Revved it up and it sounded like a champ. The smoke out of the tailpipes was white. Revved it some more and it began to bog down again and then shut off. It hasn't started up again. It cranks but doesn't start. I have spark in the wires, fuel pump buzzes in the ON position, there is gas in the fuel rail at the valve fitting behind the intake. Any help would be appreciated

Hello,

An engine will need spark, fuel and compression to start.
You might have a blown piston ring, due to that might not have enough compression to start the engine.
It is fairly simple to test the compression of an engine.

Here is a video shows how to do that:

If you find a cylinder which has low compression. Add a tea spoon of oil to the spark plug hole. And check the compression again. If the compression increases then you likely have a faulty piston ring.

I have attached the step by step procedure to test the compression.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
