I have recently developed a rumbling sound for lack of a better term. I took it to the shop and had the u joints replaced in the drive shaft to no avail. The mechanic then took the the rear dif apart and found no issues in there as well as taking the axel apart because he thought it was a rear wheel bearing. Again no issues. The sound happens when the truck is under load and if you kick it into neutral it doesn't make a noise. i think the sound is coming somewhere from mid ships but the mechanic thinks it is rear. Neither of us can figure it out. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. Its a very annoying sound. When I kick it into reverse There is a rumbling noise coming from the rear. I cant tell if its the breaks, the axel or the suspension. I recently got in a wreak on the back side of my truck so I figure something is loose. Either that or the breaks are not fully engaged.
